The only Abbott World Marathon Major held in Asia, this flat, fast course starts at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku and finishes near Tokyo Station, passing Senso-ji temple in Asakusa and the Ginza shopping district. It was modified in 2017 to reduce elevation gain to under 35 metres, making it one of the fastest major-marathon courses.
